Privacy Policy.
Artefakt Foundation (“Artefakt,” “we,” “us”) operates a human-verified archive and publishing platform for authentic, human-made photography, film, and music. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to artefakt.foundation and our Preserve and Family archive applications.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account or sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and basic Google profile information. We use Google Sign-In solely to authenticate you; we do not access your Gmail, Drive, contacts, or other Google data.
Content you upload. Photographs, film, audio, and the associated metadata (captions, credits, embedded EXIF/IPTC fields) that you add to your archive.
Usage and device data. Log data such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed, used to operate and secure the service.
Cookies. We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication and session management.
How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and secure the archive and publishing service.
- To authenticate you and protect accounts against abuse.
- To communicate with you about your account, applications to join, and service updates.
- To comply with legal obligations.
How information is stored and shared
We rely on a small set of trusted processors to run the service:
- Supabase — database and authentication.
- Cloudflare R2 — storage of media files.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Resend — transactional email.
- Stripe — payment processing, where applicable.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. Data may be processed in Canada and the United States. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content to train third-party AI models without your explicit consent.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may close your account at any time. To exercise these rights, contact jon@artefakt.foundation.
Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. When you delete content or close your account, we remove the associated data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.
Security
We use access controls, encryption in transit, and row-level security to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information and to notify you of material breaches as required by law.
Children
Artefakt is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Updated” date above and, where appropriate, communicated directly.
